Turn a square

I spent some time throwing and trimming some faceted bowls this week.  I really enjoy making faceted bowls – I think the process of cutting off the sides with a chesse slicer is a slow and relaxing project.  I’ve got these bowls trimmed and ready to fire.

I tried a little different clay with these bowls – the clay is the same mid-range red that I usually use.  However, this batch has some manganese mixed in.  The manganese is supposed to come through the glaze to create a speckled appearance.  I’m hoping to do some test glazing in the next couple weeks to tryout a few new glazes, and to see how this new clay looks.
