Blazingstar Pottery is located among the hills of southeastern Minnesota. I hope this blog will record my trials and experiments. I’m interested in the way natural elements can react with heat and leave
footprints on the clay. I like clay for the ability to have an effect on the final piece at so many different stages of the piece. I primarily use red stoneware and fire to cone 6 (2200 degrees F). All my glazes are food safe, and each pieces is microwave, dishwasher and oven safe.
I
have a full-time job with a local garden center as a landscape designer. I spend much of my time in the summer working, and much of the remaining time I spend with my family. I have a lovely wife and two kids, age 4 and 1. I try to make time in the summer for a few art shows, which I will post about on the website.
Since my job is strongly seasonal, I have a few months off in the winter to spend a lot of time working with clay. Stop back often to see what I’m up to!
